Sasana Krida Karang Taruna (SKKT) Building on Jalan Tiva RW 07, Pegangsaan Dua Urban Village, Kelapa Gading Sub-District, North Jakarta, is in a very poor condition. In addition to have brittle almost in all parts of the building, the building’s ceiling is also curved and perforated. This condition of course brings great affects to the youth club’s activities.

The building has been reviewed by the officials recently, but we don’t know whether they would repair it or not. We hope them to repair this building immediately

The SKKT building’s damage has been known since five years ago. However, North Jakarta Social Sub-Department as the responsible institution seems to ignore it. As a result, the damage becomes more severe from year to year.

Based on beritajakarta.com observations, the upper roof frame has been curved and almost broken. Some ceilings have to be supported by bamboo so as not to collapse. The middle part of the building’s roof also h as collapsed for about one meter diameter.

Head of Pegangsaan Dua Urban Village Youth Club, Farid, said the porous wood on the roof is already happened since three years ago. It finally collapsed early this year. Even so, the building is still being used by Pegangsaan Dua Youth Club to meet and hang out. Related to the building condition, he told that North Jakarta Social Sub-Department has known about it.

“If there is a meeting, we still use the building. We are being careful in using it and gather in the save part. The building has been reviewed by the officials recently, but we don’t know whether they would repair it or not. We hope them to repair this building immediately,” he uttered, Thursday (6/12).

When being confirmed about this matter, Head of North Jakarta Social Sub-Department, Ika Lestari Adji, acknowledged that some urban village SKKT buildings in her jurisdiction need to be renovated, such as SKKT building in Pegangsaan Dua, Cilincing, Sukapura, and Pademangan Barat urban villages.

“But for Pegangsaan Dua, Sukapura, and Pademangan Barat SKKT buildings, we just proposed the renovation in the Budget Planning (RAB) this year, so the renovation could be started next year. While for SKKT building in Clincing, it has been in the auction process,” she stated.

According to Adji, Pegangsaan Dua SKKT building will be renovated into two-story building. The first floor will be the hall for meetings, while the second floor will be the office space.

“It is actually has been proposed since last year, but due to minimum budget, the renovation becomes delayed. Hopefully it (RAB for renovation) can be approved next year,” she expressed.
